Predictable Irrationality

Photo of Dan Ariely

Dan Ariely is a professor of psychology and behavioral economics.

The latest in my favorite TED Talks is this amazing speech by Dan Ariely, in which he talks about his behavioral experiments in regards to personal and business ethics.

According to Wikipedia, “Dan Ariely is an Israeli American professor of psychology and behavioral economics. He teaches at Duke University and is the founder of The Center for Advanced Hindsight. Ariely’s talks on TED have been watched over 4.8 million times. He is the author of Predictably Irrational and The Upside of Irrationality, both of which became New York Times best sellers, as well as The Honest Truth about Dishonesty.”

Ariely discusses many of his experiments and the results are absolutely fascinating. He makes us question our moral code, both as a society and as individuals, and talks about ways to subtly improve our overall ethic, especially given the background of the financial crisis.

It is a thought-provoking piece that I hope you will enjoy.
