The UTS Messaging Team recently began a series of Exchange Briefings, open to all members of the Emory IT community, for the purpose of offering two key elements: 1) training for various Exchange-related elements, such as Lync installation and management, and 2) hot topics within the Exchange community.

Coordinated by Jymbellyn Carthon (Infrastructure), the briefings are a total team effort. The Exchange Team is comprised of Jymbellyn Carthon, Greg Cooper, Jay Flanagan (Mgr), David Gottschalk, Terry MarkertJames Reed (all of Infrastructure), and the entire team is usually in attendance to answer questions.

The hot topics section is structured to review the most common tickets or nettlesome problems that the Exchange community is experiencing. The discussion brings clarity, answers questions and gives the team an inside track on what their customers are experiencing.

“This briefing makes their lives easier and helps us to revise and/or create knowledge articles,” says Jymbellyn. “Ultimately,  we hope our efforts help the IT community to do their jobs more efficiently and give us more information to do our jobs better. I work with a great group of people.”

So far, there have been two Exchange Briefings, with between 25-40 Emory staff in attendance. Many of these folks are the same ones who attend the IT Briefings and the DeskNet meetings.
