Emory is implementing a new performance management tool.

As communicated in various all-staff e-mails, division newsletters, and HR News You Can Use publications, Emory is implementing a new performance management tool and process for the FY2014 performance period. In order to familiarize all employees with this new tool and process, various training opportunities are being offered by both your local LITS Human Resources department as well as the Emory Learning and Development department.

You are encouraged to attend any one of the following training sessions. Note that it is not necessary to attend multiple sessions as the content will be essentially the same for all dates, venues, and training formats. Also, if you have already attended the manager/supervisor performance management training, it will not be necessary to attend the following sessions as you have already been exposed to the content that will be delivered.

In-person Training Opportunities:

  • Training Course: Performance Management Training: “New Competencies, New Perspective”
  • Target Audience: All employees in LITS
  • Course Length: 90-120 minutes

In-person training to be offered by the LITS Human Resources department at the following times and locations:

  • April 1, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Jones Room on 3rd floor of Woodruff Library)
  • April 3, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (4th Floor Auditorium in North Decatur Bldg)
  • April 7, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Jones Room on 3rd floor of Woodruff Library)
  • April 9, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (4th Floor Auditorium in North Decatur Bldg)
  • April 15, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (4th Floor Auditorium in North Decatur Bldg)

It is not necessary to register for the sessions offered by LITS HR. You can simply mark your calendar for the date and time that most suits your schedule. However, because seating is limited, it is possible that a session or two may fill up quickly and later-arriving participants could be asked to attend another session.

In-person training will also be offered through the Emory Learning and Development department. All classes will be held at 1599 Clifton Rd.

Of the 9 classes that have been scheduled, many are now full and remaining slots are generally limited to wait list only.  However, if you cannot attend the LITS training listed above and have not already claimed a spot in the training provided by Learning and Development, you can attempt to register for any wait list slots that remain via the following link:  http://www.emory.edu/elms-training/.  You’ll need to log in to EMS, then click “Browse Catalog.”  Scroll down and click “next” to go to the 2nd page of the catalog.  Then click the “HR Policies and Procedures” link and look for the class entitled “Performance Management: New Competencies, New Perspectives” #200687 under the section.  As of this writing, there were a few wait list slots available for classes in May.

Computer-based Training:

If you are unable to attend any of the in-person training sessions listed above, you can also review the content through a computer-based training module that will be launched shortly after the completion of the in-person training schedule. Specific timing for the CBT launch will be communicated by the Learning and Development department in the next couple weeks.

Finally, additional information regarding this year’s LITS performance management process and timeline will be communicated shortly. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming training sessions. Let me know if you have questions.
