Sharon Leslie is the new nursing informationist in the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library. In her role, she will basically be the librarian for the School of Nursing. Before coming to Emory, Sharon spent over six years as the Public Health and Health Sciences Librarian at Georgia State University. She also spent over two years as a pharmacy librarian for Mercer University and eight years as a librarian in the Piedmont Hospital Medical Library.

Additionally, Sharon worked at the AIDS Research Consortium of Atlanta (ARCA) for nine years in various positions, lastly as regulatory affairs coordinator. ARCA is a clinical trials unit doing HIV/AIDS testing.

Born in Virginia but raised in Florida, Sharon has lived in Atlanta for 26 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in photography from the University of Florida and an MSLS degree from Clark Atlanta University. Sharon is also a distinguished member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals and won the highly prestigious “Best Cubicle” award from Dr. Jeremy Kupsco.

Sharon lives with two cats, Bobo and Premium, and one Georgia Tech engineer. She enjoys international travel, cooking, yard work (“gardening, if you’re fancy,” she said), reading, and seeing movies. Sharon has visited medical history museums in Berlin, Paris, Vienna, and St. Petersburg, Russia as well as an ossuary in the Czech Republic.

“I’ve known many of my new colleagues for years through the Atlanta Health Sciences Library Consortium. I’ve always admired them and been envious of their skills and workplace environment,” said Sharon. “I’m looking forward to learning from them and getting to put my hospital and academic librarianship experience to use in one place.”
