Emory’s Financial Online Reporting Services (FORS), the service that “gives you the ability to generate standard reports quickly and easily by selecting reporting criteria from drop-down menus,” was a recent finalist for the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Business Intelligence/Analytics Innovation Awards.
Nominated in the mid-size enterprise category, FORS was hailed by Greg Boyd, TAG BI/A Society Co-Chair, as helping Emory to combine “internal and external data to predict potential outcomes and shift strategy to drive new sources of revenue.” Boyd added, “The face of BI [business intelligence] is changing rapidly.”
Since first being announced as a solution for unwieldy data reporting, FORS has been honored multiple times, including winning a prestigious national best-practices award in 2012 from the Data Warehousing Institute (TWDI).
The brainchild of John Notarantonio and David Miller in UTS Enterprise Applications, FORS was created through collaboration between UTS, central finance, and the hundreds of users of Compass at Emory.
No new work is planned for FORS and the services will be sunsetted when the new Business Intelligence (BI) solution is rolled out.
